Ruth Roman is the youngest child born to Lithuanian and Jewish parents Mary Pauline Gold (Gold) & Abraham Roman in Lynn, Massachusetts. Her father, a carnival barker, died at the age of a tiny little girl. This forced her mother to help support the family by being a waitress and cleaning woman. Ruth lived in a slum Boston Tenement area in Massachusetts. She attended school in Boston. She quit the school she attended just two years later in order to pursue acting as a profession. The route she took did not come without challenges. While in New York, her first task was to pose stills for crime magazines. the theatre work that she longed to do was abyssal. After that, she was an hat-checker at an evening club, before deciding to call it quits and returning to Boston. In the New England Repertory Company was the first job she had as a regular actor. Earned money working during the day working as an Usherette. She was a drama student in The Bishop-Lee Theatre School and graduated.
